Great, but cold, few days at The Dorset

On Saturday 3rd March, it looked like our two-day golf break to The Dorset Golf Resort was going to be cancelled - we'd had heavy snow here for a few days and it was cold (-4!). But, by Sunday, it had started to clear, the course was open and our trip was back on.

Myself, PGA Professional Colin Murray and our 27 guests - from a wide range of clubs including Skylark, Southampton, Dibden, Romsey, Lymington, Brokenhurst, Stoneham and Goodward - arrived on Monday morning.

All the groups were ready to go. Unfortunately, heavy rain came down from 11.00am and didn’t stop until 6.00pm, but we had a good day.

We played the Woodland's 9 and Lakeland's 9 and although half of the group only played 9-holes due to the weather, the other half soldiered through. We all couldn’t wait to get back to the 5-star log cabins for a nice sauna and a lovely 3-course dinner in the restaurant.

On Tuesday, we met up for a nice early breakfast. Whilst the keen, hard workers hit the range, most had a coffee and relaxed morning before beginning the second round on the Lakeland’s 9 and the Parkland's 9. A much better day weather-wise, which was great and enjoyable for everyone.

In the afternoon, we all met in the clubhouse for a presentation and prize-giving to finish the break. Well done to...

  1. Ben Godley 34/30=64 (won after back 9 card off)
  2. Gav Wyatt 33/31=64
  3. Rick MacDonald 33/26=59
  4. Ali Britton 28/27=55
  5. Fred Rowland 17/35=52

Thanks to everyone that came along and took part. It was our first event at The Dorset but we'll certainly be looking at coming back, and making it an annual event to start off the year (hopefully with less snow and rain next year!)
